Machines keep getting smarter every year. Software's more capable. Automation is closing the gap between what a machine can do and what a good machinist used to do purely by feel.
Then you walk into a shop like this one, and you're reminded of something no algorithm has figured out how to replace: experience.
Goodwin-Bradley opened its doors in 1912. Before the Titanic sank. Before World War I. Before most of what we consider standard manufacturing technology even existed. Over a century later, they're still running — and still proving that you can't shortcut that kind of depth.
A Front Row Seat to Manufacturing History
What makes Goodwin-Bradley's story stand out isn't just the number of years. It's who they've worked alongside.
They've supported innovations tied to Henry Ford, back when American mass production was still being figured out in real time. They contributed to work connected to Igor Sikorsky's early helicopters. Their history includes involvement with Pratt & Whitney aircraft engines and General Electric's first U.S.-built jet engine. And their fingerprints show up in work tied to the USS Nautilus — the first nuclear-powered submarine in history.

A brand-new WELE MECHATRONIC CO., LTD. machining center from JTEKT Machinery Americas Corporation now sits inside a company that's been building its reputation for over 110 years.
A shop with that much history could easily coast. Instead, they invested in the newest generation of precision machining technology available today. WELE machines are known for massive castings, exceptional rigidity, and thermal stability that holds up even after running all day — removing metal with the same confidence a freight train has rolling downhill.
Old knowledge. New iron. That combination is what keeps a company relevant for another hundred years.

Technology keeps advancing, and it should. But you can't buy 112 years of experience. You can't download the accumulated knowledge of generations of machinists who worked on projects tied to Ford, Sikorsky, Pratt & Whitney, GE, and the Navy's most historic submarine program. That only comes from time, continuity, and people passing the craft down.
